My Shovel

My Shovel follows the experiences of Karen Sue, a retired substance abuse counselor. She worked for mental health facilities and assisted male prisoners with health and substance abuse during incarceration. This all makes sense once you realize the Karen Sue had been neck-deep in substance abuse herself.

This website is about coming of age in the early 70’s a completely different time than today. Contrary to popular belief not everyone believed in free love, rock and roll, and drugs. I didn’t know what Woodstock was until I was thirty. This is also about a book I wrote which address similar topics although it’s more directed to my personal life.
